Aston University Conference Enabling Works
The Mechanical Engineering Services at Aston University, ABS plant room refurbishment have been designed by Couch, Perry & Wilks and installed by Novus Mechanical Limited, undertaken as a domestic sub-contractor to the Main Contractor Interclass
The mechanical works on site were undertaken during June 2021 – Oct 2021.
The scope of the new mechanical services comprises of the following:
- Supply and management of temporary heating and hot water generation plant to maintain supply whilst the existing plant area was demolished and the installation of new equipment took place
- Within the plant area Novus undertook the installation of the following services and connections,
- Domestic Hot water. Removal of large storage vented hot water cylinders, modification to the existing district heating main, used as the primary heat source; hot water is now generated via anew packaged plate heat exchanger
- Tank cold water. The existing supply and water storage tanks have been redirected to supply tank cold water to the domestic hot water plate heat exchanger.
- Heating system. two main heating circuits serving the building and two existing AHUs the existing district heating main was modified with the addition of two large storage vessels that intern plate heat exchangers providing a hydraulic break secondary pumps and control valve were all replaced and connections to existing building distribution connected at the exit of the plant room.
- The new heating and domestic water systems in the plant room have new building management controls
