The Binding Site is a specialist Protein Company committed to the research, development, manufacture and distribution of innovative immunodiagnostic assays for the global laboratory market.

Due to the recent reorganisation of the research and development and admin operations resulted in aremodelling exercise of manufacturing work space with the goal to provide a space efficient environment that can meet the needs of a growing business while at the same time offering optimum process flow for all manufacturing departments.

Working as a domestic sub contract with our partner DP Designs, Novus mechanical undertook a phased refurbishment of a pharmaceutical laboratory building in five ways Birmingham to facilitate a remodelling scheme that involved the refurbishment of existing laboratory area but also convert pre-existing general office space to clean laboratory environments.

The existing building was over 6 levels with a variety of existing laboratory and office space.

The main element of the installation was public health facilities including wash stations, laboratory sinks and equipment with extension of infrastructure domestic hot & cold water and above ground drainage using a Vulcathene waste system.

The main challenges involved, were working within an occupied operational building but also routing of our services back to central cores to tie into existing rising mains, to overcome this the majority of works were undertaken out of hours.
